In one week: Continuous bombing of Gaza and targeting schools in the West Bank

Ramallah, May 26, 2026

Israeli occupation forces and settlers have intensified their crimes in one week. In occupied Al-Quds, Jerusalem, nine settlers brought what is so-called the “bread offering” into the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, assaulted two of the mosque’s guards, and managed to reach the Dome of the Rock courtyard. Meanwhile, violations against the mosque reached eight in one week, as the Israeli occupation authorities expelled a student from Ryadh Al-Aqsa school for 6 months, and also expelled a Palestinian woman from the mosque as a condition for her release. The violations extended to the city of Hebron, where the occupation forces lit up the Israeli flag and Hebrew slogans above the walls of the Ibrahimi Mosque, as part of the settlers’ celebratory displays in the presence of the extremist Israeli Minister of Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir. They also prevented the call to prayer in the mosque and movement in the Old City, to secure the settlers’ celebrations. They erected a military tower on the old municipality building, and closed the Zakat Committee in Jenin after confiscating its contents. Settlers prevented Palestinians from performing Friday prayers in a mosque in the town of Beit Furik in Nablus. Others tried to burn down a mosque in the town of Kafr Haris in Salfit, and they smashed gravestones in a cemetery belonging to the villages of Rashayda and Kisan in Bethlehem, twice in succession over the past week.

Between May 19 and 25, 2026, Israeli crimes totaled 863. The OIC Media Observatory on Israeli Crimes Against Palestinians recorded the killings of 21 Palestinians and injuries to 99 others during the same period. Twenty of these killings and 83 injuries occurred in Gaza, resulting from continuous shelling that targeted displaced persons’ tents in the Al-Mawasi area, Jabalia camp, various areas in Khan Younis, the town of Al-Qarara, northern and southern Gaza City, the Al-Tuam area, and Nuseirat camp. Fishermen were also targeted in the Gaza Sea. Furthermore, the Israeli army carried out massive demolitions of residential buildings east of Gaza City and Khan Younis.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, stated that the actions committed by the occupying forces constitute “grave violations” of international law and, in some cases, amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. The number of killed since October 7, 2023, has reached 73,955, with 183,514 injured.

In the West Bank, Israeli occupation forces carried out 302 incursions, killing one Palestinian, wounding 16 others, and arresting 137. They also demolished eight homes, a cement factory, a car wash, a car garage, and seven sheep pens. Additionally, they occupied one house and burned three houses in Jenin refugee camp. They also decided to demolish a residential building in Jerusalem, confiscated two tractors, a bus, a vehicle, gold jewelry from two homes, cash from an individual, chemical fertilizers, and pesticides. Furthermore, they bulldozed agricultural lands in Nablus, Tubas, Jenin, Tulkarm, Hebron, and Qalqilya. Regarding attacks on children and the education sector, the occupation forces injured 3 children, arrested 6 others, and, in addition to the settlers, launched attacks that targeted 5 schools in different areas of the West Bank. Settlers also opened fire on children while they were picking the “Akoub” plant near the village of Al-Burj.

Settler attacks numbered 124 in seven days, including 26 instances of livestock grazing in Palestinian agricultural, pastoral, and residential areas across eight different Palestinian governorates. They stole 45 sheep, an undocumented flock, a vehicle, building materials, household contents, two mobile phones, agricultural equipment, and cash. They cut down dozens of trees and tree branches in four different areas, bulldozed agricultural land in Hebron, set fire to agricultural land in three different areas, burned several vehicles and 45 tons of animal feed, smashed the windows of dozens of vehicles and homes, and cut down electricity poles in the village of Madma, near Nablus.

The number of settlement activities during the past week amounted to 6 activities, which included settlers placing mobile homes in the Jabal Qamas area to expand a settlement outpost there, laying the foundations for another outpost near the village of Tayasir in Tubas, a tent between the town of Deir Dibwan and the village of Rammun, a tent in Turmus Ayya in Ramallah, and another between the town of Qusra and the village of Jalud in Nablus. The occupation forces destroyed water networks while carrying out bulldozing work to pave a settlement road that extends for about 22 kilometers in the plain of the village of Atouf, in Tubas.
