On April 8, 2026, Israeli occupation forces erected 13 checkpoints across eight West Bank governorates, an area of 5,860 square kilometers—equivalent to a city with its suburbs. This makes movement between governorates an arduous journey that can take many hours for distances that could be covered in fifteen minutes. In March 2026, the occupation forces had already established 271 checkpoints under security pretexts, some permanent and others mobile.
